Early Wind Band Composers

Your task will be to choose two of the following composers and create "profiles" for each with the required criteria.

John Philip Sousa
Gustav Holst
Percy Grainger
Ralph Vaughan Williams
Vincent Persicheti  

You will use internet resources to learn about the lives of your chosen composers and their motivations and inspirations for composing band music.  You will listen to recordings of their most influential works and include YouTube links of these pieces in your composer profiles. 

Before you choose your composers and begin, visit the link below to the Wind Repertory Project.  Search for each composer here, read the short biographies, and browse their list of compositions.  Refer back to this site when you reach the stage of the project where you need information on the compositions you choose to include.  Bookmark this site as a reference tool for later use.
