Recognize how specific word choices (i.e. - adjectives, adverbs, and figurative language) bring about and change the tone of a work
Construct your own understanding of what a/an poet/author says in his work based upon these literary aspect
Most importantly, you will be able to bring each of these devices together to analysis why it is your mood is moved by any particular piece.
