Performance Tasks Using GRASPS

GOAL: The goal of the performance task is to conserve water in the household.

ROLE: The pupil's role is a parent whose role is to promote water conservation in the household.

AUDIENCE: The target audience is the Grade 3 pupils.

SITUATION: It has been observed that most pupils do not conserve water properly in school. Some of them will just leave the faucet open after using.  So we'll see about how they conserve water at home and bring this attitude at school.Thus, the pupils will pretend to be parents whole roles are to promote water conservation in the household. They will bring at least 2 previous water bills (preferably between January - June 2014). They will record such in a template which will be given to them. To help them become motivated in conserving water at home,  the pupils will form groups and create a campaign material regarding such cause.

 After a month, they will bring their present water bill (July 2014) and subtract it from the previous water bills. They will all record it in their notebook and present it to their partner and afterwards, to their class.

PRODUCTS: 1. Campaign material to encourage grade 3 pupils to conserve water. This may be posted along the corridors and lockers of the Grade 3 floor.

                     2. Presentation of data gathered as a group about the water consumption within a month.

STANDARD: Pupils' output will be rated according to the logical organization and clarity of presentation. Please refer to the rubric (click Evaluation in the menu)
