Math is Easy!
Introduction
Units 1 and 2 focus on whole numbers and introduce addition and subtraction. You will be given opportunities to explore the concept of whole numbers up to 10,000 and numbers up to 100th. This includes understanding place value and value of digits in a three-digit number, comparing and ordering numbers, reading and writing four-digit numbers. They will also learn to identify number patterns, complete and create number patterns. The pupils will demonstrate and are able to apply understanding of addition and subtraction of whole numbers up to 1000 including money in real life situations.
These opportunities will help us build their understanding with number concepts and patterns, they will be provided with hands-on experiences using concrete objects such as counters, base ten blocks and other manipulative devices, pictures and real-life situations.
Essential Questions:
Unit 1: What is the best form of number to use?
Unit 2: What is the best mathematical operation to use in solving the problem?
