Task

tablemanners_graphic(2).gif

The task is to compare table manners in Japan and Great Britain. The class can be divided into two groups and one of them will work on Japanese table manners and the other on British ones.

The project will cover 8 lessons, during which the students will work on particular topic.

They will work individually or in pairs to find the information from sourses, some of them given by teacher, about particular ceremony. Each pupil or a pair from each group in the class will have his/her own direction on the project and he/she will be summarising the facts about the topic.

For example: one of the pupil will have the task "Japanese Table Setting" and he/she will have to find the information about this particular topic and then will be able to present it in their either Japanese or British group to the whole class.

The groups can finally sit in front of each other and make a demonstration about table manners in particular country.

Students will answer these questions:

What is the table setting in particular country?

How do Japanese/British behave while eating?

What are the utensils?

How do Japanese /British behave at the end of the meal?
