8. What's the name of the famous club in Liverpool where they used to play?

9. Who was the lead singer? What happened to him?

10. Click on the link "IMAGINE LYRICS" (see "Resources" below) and answer the following:

What do you think John Lennon wanted to say to the world with this song?  Do you think governments nowadays should reflect on these words?

GROUP 2: THE ROLLING STONES. Click on the links to "THE ROLLING STONES" (see "Resources" below) and answer the questions below:

1. When did they get together?

2. Where were they from?

8. Why were they promoted as bad boys?

9. Name some of their number one hits.

10. Listen to some of the songs by "The Beatles" and some by "The Rolling Stones" by clicking on the links to the youtube videos below. Which ones do you prefer? Why? What differences can you find between their music, if any?

GROUP 3: THE WHO. Click on the links to "THE WHO" and "WE ARE THE MODS!!" ( see "Resources" below) to answer the following questions:

1. Which urban style defines "The Who"?

2. They are considered the godfathers of which style of music?

3. Where were they from?

4. Who was the lead singer?

5. They influenced other bands from the late 1970s. Which ones?

6. Name some of their songs.

7. Some critics say that "The Who", more than "The Beatles" and "The Rolling Stones", have something to say to the youth of their age, a youth disappointed by society (their jobs, their families, their lives,...) A youth which looked for answers in music. Read the words of the following song:
People try to put us down (talking 'bout my generation)
People try to put us down (talking 'bout my generation)
Just because we get around (talking 'bout my generation)
Just because we get around (talking 'bout my generation)
Things they do look awful cold (talking 'bout my generation)
Things they do look awful cold (talking 'bout  my generation)
I hope I die before I  get old (talking 'bout my generation)
I hope I die before I get old (talking 'bout my generation)

Here "The Who" are speaking out for their generation, that is the youth from the 60s. Reading these lyrics, how do you think young people felt then?
Ask your parents/grandparents and try to find information about what life was like in the 60s and 70s, when they were young. Think of the  differences when comparing it to the youth of today. What were things like for teenagers then and what are they like now? Would you have liked to live then? Why? Why not?
