Propaganda: Believe it or Not...

Step #1: What is Propaganda and Why do we Care?
         
 1)Define the propaganda techniques by using the internet links below:
                 www.propagandacritic.com
                 www.dictionary.com
                 http://changingminds.org/techniques/propaganda/propaganda.htm
 
2) Create a mini-dictionary by including the terms and definitions. To help you remember, you may want to include an example of each technique.

3) Your dictionary must include the following:
      - a creative cover
      - all entries must be typed in 12pt font; blue or black ink
      - dictionary must be bound in a notebook
      - a title page with name, date, and class period


Step #2: Decoding the "Hidden Messages"

1) Using print or electronic newspapers and magazines identify at least five examples of propaganda and label each one according to its designated color provided by the teacher.

2) Write an explanation for your decision (be sure to use complete sentences and correct spelling).

3) Place your examples on the class chart in the appropriate category.

Step #3: Test Your Knowledge

1) Research your chosen topic and write at least ten important facts to be used in the brochure.

2) Select the appropriate pictures for the propaganda techniques you have chosen.
Provide a caption for each picture.

3) Combine your facts and pictures to complete a persuasive point of view. Your brochure must be neat, organized and visually attractive. (Don't forget to check your spelling and grammar)
