Classroom library: Find the title in our classroom or school library. Look at the front and back cover, chapter names, and illustrations. What predictions do you have about the story?

Phase 3

Writing and poster design

1. Choose your favorite book from the two books you have investigated.

2. In your literature journal, write 2-3 sentences telling your classmates why you think they would enjoy this book using details you learned in your research. Partner with a classmate to proofread your sentences, checking that you have given detailed information to support your opinions and edit for punctuation, capitalization, and spelling.

3. Next, design a colorful poster including:

  • Title
  • Author
  • 2-3 sentences from your journal displayed creatively
  • Images or drawings that represent the book in some way

You may design it like a political campaign poster, a billboard, a movie poster, or an advertisement for a new product or television show - be creative and persuasive!
