Illness Diagnosis WebQuest

Process

Step 1. Symptoms (Day 1)

You will be given a sheet that has a list of symptoms. When it is your turn to be the patient, this is the only thing you are allowed to tell your doctors other than basic information such as you age and date of birth. 

Step 2. Group work (Day 1)

The class will then be separated into groups. Each person in the group will take turns being the patient and the other group members will act as the doctors.

Step 3. Complete patient chart (Day 1-2)

As a group you will complete the attached patient chart on google sheets. The following topics must be included; patient name, birthdate, age, symptoms, diagnosis, potential cause, and preventative measures. Each doctor will have their own tab located at the bottom of the google sheet.

Step 4. Interview (Day 1-2)

Each person will take turn being the patient and the other group members will act as the doctors and enter data on the google sheet.

Step 5. Individual Research (Day 3-4)

After you have interviewed each patient  in your group and entered their symptoms, you are to conduct research to answer the questions, 

    a. What is the illness?

    b. How do you plan to treat/cure the illness?

    c. What was the potential cause of the illness?

    d. Are there ways this illness could have been prevented or can be in the future?

Step 7. Final Diagnosis (Day 4)

The last tab in the google sheet will have the final diagnosis that you all agreed upon after reviewing and discussing the research.

Step 8. Present (Day 5)

Each member will then present one of the illnesses and diagnosis to the entire class, so each member will have to present

Step 9. WINNER?

The groups will find out at the end of the entire presentation who had the most illnesses diagnosed correctly
