Procedure:

1. Review the following link as a class.

2. As a class we will watch a short YouTube video on "How to write a thesis."

3. Students will be given a handout to assist with their homework. 


Homework:

1. Compose a draft thesis in class and finish the remainder for homework. In doing so, you may choose to email me their draft or submit a written copy. 


Ensure to ask yourself the following questions as well as remember the following information.

To get to your final thesis, you'll need to refine your draft thesis so that it's specific and arguable.

Ask if your draft thesis addresses the assignment
Question each part of your draft thesis
Clarify vague phrases and assertions
Investigate alternatives to your draft thesis
Consult the example below for suggestions on how to refine your draft thesis statement.


2. Students are to gather research to bring into class. This will allow students to develop and refine their ideas as we move along. (It is suggested that students keep a working folder where they compile their research)
