Phase one: 

First step is to watch the  youtube video about the book, "The Tiny Seed" by Eric Carle.  After watching the video, we as a class group discuss what we have watched.  Talking about how there are many, many seeds.  Also bringing in that plants can make house hold and class room items.  Have the class look around the room and pick out which items they think comes from plants.  Each student will have a card with Velcro on the back and place their card on the objects they believe comes from plants. At the end of the lesson is where we will go back and see who picked out what item and see if they were right.  Talk about plant journals and go over each word on every page.  Stopping to allow for questions and answers.  Also we will go over the use of rulers and how to measure, watering cans and how much water we will need for the plants because some plants need more than others.  

Phase two: 

What objects in our classroom come from plants? game. Students will need to print out this worksheet.

Lorax quest game. Students need to find the "Lorax quest" game on Seussville.com

Who wants to be a plantioniaire? game.  Students will be grouped for this game.

Vocabulary words.  Students will use this crossword puzzle to look up vocabulary words and print out the finished product.

Grow your own plant game.  Students will have to figure out how to grow their own plant by trial and error. 

Ants in our plants video.  Students will watch the movie about how ants help plants and how the plants help the ants.

Printable parts of the plants.  Students, with help will download and print off the parts of a plant.

 How plants grow.  Students will download and print off how plants grow worksheet.

Label parts of the plant. Students will match parts of the plants with the words.

Phase three: 

Have the students pick out which seed they would like to plant. If it need potting soil and a pot to grow, then this step is where we place the seed in the pot or if they choose a bean seed then we'll place it in a ziplock bag with wet paper towels and tape it on the window. Each student will receive their own plant journal to keep track of how their plant grows
