Regions of The United States
Process
Step #1: You will be assigned, by your boss, into your team of four explorers.
Step #2: You will be assigned your one specific region of the United States to travel and explore: West, Midwest, Southwest, Northeast, or Southeast
Step #3: You will meet with your team and travel to your region (research your region). While you are traveling be sure to take notes on the climate, land formations such as mountains, rivers, volcanoes, deserts, the types of jobs the people that work there have, the lifestyle/culture, and products that the region produces. (The resources your boss has provided are at the end of the Process page.)
Step #4: Use the research and findings to fill out the graphic organizer (attached to the end of this page).
Step #5: You and your team will make sure you have answered fully and clearly all of the questions on the graphic organizer. Then, your team will begin brainstorming the best way to present your information to your co-workers. Some examples of creative ways to present your information is videos, powerpoints, prezis, songs, poems, dioramas, posters.. etc. Remember to use a method that you and your team already know how to do!
Step #6: Once you have decided, as a team, on a creative way to present your information for your region, then you will follow your specific job description to make sure all aspects of the job are completed.
Step #7: Each member of your team will have a specific job description (listed below). Each worker will need to complete their job effectively because that is the only way for the team to be successful.
Step #8: Once the team has completed creating their presentation, they will practice! PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE! Make sure that everyone is involved in some way. The boss is looking for confidence, expert knowledge of the region, and creativity. Remember, YOU are responsible for teaching all of the coworkers about your region so make sure to include all of your information and make sure it is specific!
Step #9: The exploration teams will present for about three to five minutes per team. If you are a worker who is not presenting you need to be respectfully paying attention, and you may take notes if you need to.
