How many scoops are in 1 gallon of ice cream? How many ounces are in a scoop?


With your group, determine how many students are in the 4th grade.  Ms. Collins' class has 24 kids, Ms. Montgomery has 23, Mrs. Prock/Mrs. Gookin have 25, Ms. Kypke has 25, and Ms. Brown has 22.  

What are your constraints?

How many spoons are needed?  Figure out how many boxes we need to buy.  Record your answer. What is the cost per box of spoons?


How many cups are needed?  How many cups will you have to buy?  Record your answer.  What is the cost per bag of cups? 


Figure out how many scoops of ice cream are needed.  Convert that into the number of gallons of ice cream needed.  Record your answer on a sheet of paper.  What is the cost per gallon?

Figure out how many milliliters of soda each float will use.  Convert that into the number of liters of soda you will need.  Record your answer.  What is the cost per 2 liter bottle?



When you have your answers, prepare a final copy answering the following questions:

1. How many spoons come in one box? How many boxes of spoons are needed?  How much does one box cost?  How much will we spend on spoons altogether?  Write the number of boxes we will use as a mixed number.

2.  How many cups are in one bag? How many bags of cups will we need?  How much does one bag of cups costs?  How much will we spend on cups? Write the number of bags we will use as a mixed number.

3.  How many gallons of ice cream are needed?  How much does one gallon cost?  How much will we spend on ice cream altogether?

4.  How many 2 liter bottles of soda are needed?  How much does one 2 liter cost?  How much will we spend on soda altogether?

5.  What is the total cost to provide ice cream floats to every student in the 4th grade?
