Day 1The Bald Eagle is the National Bird for America.  It symbolizes freedom and strength.  Come and fly with me and learn about the Bald Eagle. Bald Eagle .  Let us review the key facts and vocabulary words that are on today's list.  After, we will go to our tables where we will be directed by a video on how to draw a Bald Eagle  

Day 2 The American Flag represents freedom.  Let's learn about the flag by watching a video, American Riddle. After the video, let's review the key facts and vocabulary words that are on today's list.  We will learn the Pledge of Allegiance. We will print the pledge on our writing paper. Towards the end of class, we will color the American Flag. 

Day 3 - The Liberty Bell represents independence and freedom.  Let's watch a video on the Liberty Bell. After the video, we will review key facts and vocabulary wordsthat are on today's list. After we review the key facts and vocabulary words, we will print the biblical verse that is on the bell: "Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto the inhabitants thereof". We will draw a picture of the Liberty Bell directed by a video.

Day 4 - The Statue of Liberty is a symbol of freedom and democracy. Let's watch a video, Olivia goes to the Statue of Liberty. After the video, we will review key facts and vocabulary words that are on today's list.  After the review, we will draw the Statue of Liberty directed by a video.

Day 5- Mount Rushmore is a National Memorial granite carving of four United States Presidents.  Gutzon Borglum is the sculptor of this great monument. The four presidents that he selected are George Washington,Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. These four presidents were picked because of the American Ideals that they represent.  This monument symbolizes liberty and freedom on which America was founded. Let's rock with the four presidents on the video about Mount Rushmore. The second video is on a tour to this National Monument. We will review the key facts and vocabulary words that are on today's list.  Afterwords, we will use our laptops and color Mount Rushmore online.  After we color the picture, we will print it for our Journal Scrapbook.

Day 6- First, we will learn about the Washington Monument which is located in the heart of Washington D.C. This monument was made to commemorate George Washington, the First United States President and his commitment to America. This National Symbol is also a symbol of all 50 States in America.  We will also visit the White House and learn amazing facts about this National Landmark. We will review the key facts and vocabulary words about both landmarks, Washington Monument and the White House. After the review, we will color the Washington Monument and the White House for our Journal Scrapbook.

Day 7 - Today we will wear Red, White and Blue color clothing, any style. It is our day to review all the National Landmarks and National Symbols that we have learned about the last 6 days.  We will put our drawings, coloring pages and writings into a Journal Notebook and add a title page cover. We will use Red, white and blue ribbon to tie all the pages together. We will then sing America the Beautiful accompanied by a video.  To end our unit, we will look at our finished Journal Scrapbooks and eat apple pie!
