You CAN work with a partner for this assignment, but you must complete YOUR OWN work. Yes, you can help each other, but no you cannot turn in the same assignment together.

1. Now you may click here: javascript:nicTemp();      where you will watch a fun video that presents the Butterfly Life Cycle through a fun song. As you are watching the video please pay attention to the order of the phases of the butterfly life cycle and some information about each phase.

2. Now take out a pen and piece of paper in order to take notes from the resource provided in order to get a better understanding of the butterfly life cycle:   javascript:nicTemp();

3. Now that you have some knowledge on the butterfly life cycle, each of you will have the chance to play a review game at this link: javascript:nicTemp();

- Remember the information that you review as you will apply it in the next portion of the lesson

4. Now you are ready to create your very own butterfly life cycle diagram, by using the different materials you were given in class.

Materials Given:

  1. One paper plate
  2. One green marker (to be returned)
  3. One pair of scissors (to be returned)
  4. One piece of 8.5- by 11-inch green construction paper
  5. One stick of Glue (to be returned)
  6. Three Dried white beans
  7. One Rotini pasta noodle
  8. One Small shell pasta noodle
  9. One Bowtie pasta noodle
  10. One ziplock bag to put all of the material inside.

STEPS for Making Your Own Diagram:

  • Write Life Cycle of a Butterfly across the top of their paper plate.
  • Draw two perpendicular lines across the plate, dividing it into four sections
  • Cut out a leaf shape to put in the top left section
  • Glue a few white beans on the top left leaf
  • Glue one rotini pasta in the other top right section
  • Glue one small shell pasta on the bottom right section
  • Glue one bowtie pasta on the bottom left section
  • Now take a few moments to let the glue dry.
  • Once glue is dry, label each of the four sections with the stages of a butterfly: 1. Egg  2. Caterpillar  3. Chrysalis 4. Butterfly.
  • Now flip the plate around and write one fact ( that you learned in the song or video) about the butterfly life cycle phase in that section.
  • Lastly, draw arrows from one stage to the next to show the order of the progression of the butterflys growth.

5. Now once you are done with creating your own butterfly life cycle diagram, you should now go to the evaluation tab-  javascript:nicTemp();

and check to make sure you met the requirements throughout the lesson before you it to class tomorrow.
