When pollen from the anthers of one flower land on the stigma of a flower on another plant of the same species, ____________________ pollination occurs.

4. Exam Type Question

1. Joe is a student in Grade 7 at your school and his father is a farmer. Joes father asked him to plant some pumpkin seeds in the

field and to look after them until they produced fruit(pumpkins). Every morning and evening Joe watered the seeds. He watched

then develop into young plants and then into long pumpkin vines, which began to produce bright yellow flowers with very large

i. Which method of pollination would you expect the pumpkin seeds to exhibit? Give one reason for your answer.

ii. What effect will Joes habit of breaking off the stigma of the pumpkin flower have? Give one reason for your answer.
