Process

Chicos, el proceso del proyecto es muy simple.

1. Choose a dance: In groups of 3-5 students, select a dance from the following- Salsa,Tango, Cumbia, Cueca, or Bachata Each group should have a different style! If we can't decide, I will randomly assign you a dance style. I have provided a list of resourceful links for you to use at the bottom of this page. You should use this information. However, if you find other credible sources, feel free to use those as well. Please talk with me if you're concerned about the link. I will be able to let you know if it's credible! Also, if there is a dance that I do not have on the list and you want to do it, please tell me! I will be more than willing to give you the opportunity to choose.

2. Research the dance: Research the history, characteristics, description, origin, etc. For example, if you choose Merengue, you might want to mention that it originates in the Dominican Republic and Haiti, it's a type of ballroom dancing, the name originates from "egg whites" etc. You should include an interesting fact. The research should not take too long, since I've provided  great sources and a video for each dance. The research is just as important though because you will have to present this information. As always, ask me any questions if you're concerned about a site!

 3. Present the research: Once you've gathered the research, you will need to present the research using technology like Prezi, Animoto, Powerpoint, Podcast,Voicethread, or some other form of technology. Your presentation should include all the information you gathered, a video example or at least 3 pictures of the dance, and of course a bibliography page! I want to see where you received this information!! The sources should adhere to the MLA formatting. In your presentation, you should also include a "task page" that has the name of each student and the task they did in order to complete this assignment. The amount of work should be shared equally among each member. The presentation does not need to be more than seven minutes long! Just gather the information, put it into your presentation show (Prezi, Animoto, etc) and then present. Each person should also present something in the slide! The presentation is merely a guide for the audience. Do not read; present! Bullet points, time-lines, concept maps, compare and contrast charts, and videos of the dance are always encouraged and appreciated.

 4. Product:Lastly, you will need a final product. This "product" can consist of teaching the dance to the class or a video of your group performing the dance. The videos that I provided are steps to learning the dance. You should not need to find other videos to learn the dance, however if you want more videos to learn from, feel free to look for more ideas! If you have any questions about the product, ask! Don't worry about "looking good" or "dancing well" I just want to see that you are trying and have at least eight steps that you will be teaching or dancing. :)

As always, ask me questions if you're unsure of anything!!!
