Picking perfect plumbing products and more

Process

You are going to work in groups of four students, so you have to divide tasks and roles; who is going to take the minutes (who writes everything down)? Who is going to make the drawings? Who is going to research floorplans? Who is going to research appliances? I want you to hand in what you have agreed upon. I also need you to keep a clear log of who did what and when, so we can make sure that nobody is freeloading and taking credit for other people's work...

Your clients name is Andrew Jarowsky. Mr. Jarowsky is completely remodeling a home he recently purchased. He is hoping to resell the house soon, and needs recommendations, pricing estimates, and a time line from you for upgrading the plumbing and fixtures throughout the house. Mr. Jarowsky buys and resells a lot of houses in the area, so he could be a good source of ongoing business!

1. Discuss and then answer the following questions:
- What are the plumbing appliances and fixtures needed for a new or renovated home?
- How would you recommend plumbing appliances and fixtures that best fit your client's wants and needs?

The first thing you do now is find a floorplan. You can use the one I have attached below, or you can use the link I have posted to find a different floorplan. Mark all the places that need plumbing appliances and other fixtures.

Hand in the marked floorplan and write a report in which you answer the questions. Remember: you are a team, so you have to agree on the answers!

2. Discuss and the answer the following questions:
- What are my budgetary limitations for this project?
- What requirements and limitations are set in the blueprint/floorplan?
- What plumbing appliances and fixtures are already specified in the blueprint?
- What options are available?
- What environmental concerns and codes need to be addressed throughout this project?

Based on this floorplan, you are going to make a sales recommendation for plumbing appliances and fixtures for this house. You will need items such as sinks, bathtubs, showers, toilets, faucets, garbage disposers, dishwashers, water heaters, and water softeners (for example, you are free to add other fixtures and to take some of these off the list). Find three stores that sell the items you need and create a price list for the items you need. Compare prices and determine the best fit for Mr. Jakowsky. Make sure he gets the best quality and the best price!

Decisions can be based on, for example: price, options, reliability, utility or other factors.

Hand in the lists and a letter to Mr. Jakowsky in which you tell him which items you chose and why.

3.  Prepare a sales pitch in which you present your findings and sell your plan to Mr. Jakowsky.

Remember: you are selling your plan! Make sure to make this presentation as nice as possible! Use visual presentation tools like Powerpoint, Prezi, Piktochart, or whatever else you want to use.

Record your presentation and make sure I get the video. I will send them to your client, who will then choose a winning pitch.

Hand in the outline of your presentation!
