Process

Phase 1

Now that you have seen the video on Montmartre, you can start your research! I have attached the video below, so you feel free to watch it as many times as you would like! Once we complete our discussion about Paris and the Arrondissements, I will put you into groups so you can begin your project.

Phase 2
Now that you have found your groups, you will begin by brainstorming different neighborhoods of American cities, such as New York City, Los Angeles, or Chicago, for example. What can you do in these neighborhoods? Do you know what types of restaurants are popular? What about exciting tourist attractions? Your ideas are not limited to this, but you must brainstorm at least five (5) things you know about American cities.

Phase 3

Once you complete your brainstorming, you may begin your research. First, however, you must choose research roles. Each person in the group must have a role, no exceptions. There are three different roles:

1. Admiral Activity- researches different activities you can do in your arrondissement;

2. Monsieur/Mademoiselle Monument- researches various historical/famous monuments in your arrondissement (this person will more than likely work closely with Admiral Activity); and

3. Captain Connection- makes connections between your Parisian arrondissement and an American city.

Now that you have decided on roles, you may begin your research. You will have three in class days to complete it, as well as researching it on your own, if you need to. Each day, you will share what you have found with the rest of your group in order to stay on task.

Phase 4

Once you have completed your research, you will design an informational flyer, brochure, or something else to highlight the information you have found regarding you arrondissement. On the fourth day of this lesson, you will present your information to myself and your classmates, trying to convince us to visit your Arrondissement. You can be as creative or imaginative as you would like with how you present your information. Have fun with this assignment! Below, you will find the rubric I will be using to grade both your information and your presentation.
