Bill of Rights
Process
Directions:
Working in groups of three,
1. Explore web pages to discover information about the Bill of Rights (the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution). You may use any or all of the sites provided below, or if you know of another resource, you may use it as long as you provide a citation to the source.
2. On the Bill of Rights Worksheet, summarize each article of the Bill of Rights in your own words. In the space provided, give an example of a specific right each Amendment is intended to protect. (This worksheet will be handed in with your final presentation).
3. Discuss the Bill of Rights with your partners and together rank the Amendments in order of importance on the Bill of Rights Worksheet. State your reasons why you chose to rank the Amendments in this order.
4. Take the top three Amendments on your list and find current news stories about how each of these rights has been violated in another country. You can find stories either in newspapers (print or internet) or televised news programs/videos.
5. Create a presentation of your choice (Prezi, Voicethread, Animoto, PowerPoint or any other digital media you prefer) to bring back to your country describing each Amendment of the Bill of Rights, the top three ranked Amendments, along with your justification for this ranking, and why these Amendments should be included in the new governing documents for your country. Final presentations will be shared with the class.
