Voices from the North Atlantic: Passengers aboard the unsinkable Titanic

I.  Research component

1. Research the historical events, people of the era and other details of 1912 using the articles on the websites listed  below.    

2.  Research the history of the Titanic by watching the videos and reading the articles on the websites listed below. 
             *You will need an entire class period to watch the "Background" video.  It is 47 minutes long.  Please remember to take notes as you watch.


II.  Writing component

1.  Write an introduction of you, the passenger.  Please include your name, age, gender, position in society and any other relevant details to make your character come alive, such as traveling companions, family in America or dreams  of adventure.

2. In the style of our novel, please write a poem telling us of the days leading up to your passage aboard the Titanic and how you came to be a passenger aboard such a fine ship.  Punctuation, grammar and spelling are important.

3. In the style of our novel, tell us of your experience on board the Titanic.  Punctuation, grammar and spelling are important here, too.
