American Indians
Process
We will be studying four different regions and eight American Indian tribes who settled in these areas. These four regions and their tribes are: Pacific Northwest (Chinook and Makah tribes) Great Plains (Mandan and Kiowa tribes) Desert Southwest (Hopi and Navajo tribes) Eastern Woodlands (Iroquios and Cherokee tribes). You will be working in groups to further study an assigned region and one tribe from that region. You will then present your findings to the rest of the class. The guidelines for this project are outlined below.
In your groups you will do the following:
1. Discuss the roles of each member in your group.
2. Research your assigned region and tribe including information on these 5 categories:
- Tribes of the region
- Climate and environment
- Government
- Culture (clothing, house structure, language, family structure, traditions, etc.)
- Natural resources
3. Compile all data and use a multimedia source (Powerpoint, Animoto, Prezi, etc.) to create a presentation for the class.
4. All presentations must include at least 2 pictures, 1 map to show the region and all 5 categories of content.
