  • All students in the eighth grade English literature class will create a three-page paper on Nathaniel Hawthorne�s �Young Goodman Brown� using MS Word. Students will analyze and summarize the story and demonstrate their mastery of the story�s theme.


  • All students will demonstrate their understanding of the future tense and be able to rewrite a sentence using that tense.

  • Students will choose a character in this story and list the strengths and weaknesses of that character.


  • Students will choose a paragraph where their character appears and rewrite the dialogue for the character in their choice of genre, which they will present to the class.


  • Students have the option to rewrite Hawthorne�s story, using their own scenario and setting.


  • When presenting to the class, students will have the option to use visuals or any other creative prop. Class members will critique the presentation.
