Holocaust: Nightmare or Necessity?

The Great Depression that began in the United States during the late 1920's  spread and effected the entire world. Germany's outlook was grim as many people were out of work during the 1930's. The time was right for a new leader and a new Germany. Adolf Hitler stepped in to fill these needs. Learn more about Hitler's rise to power by visiting these links. 

Many people have compared the Great Recession of 2010 with the Great Depression of 1930. In class, you had an opportunity to discuss with your group your comparisons of the two economies. Check out the following resources for additional information.

  • What is your opinion on the Great Recession vs. the Great Depression? Are there similarities? If so, what?
  • How has the Great Recession affected other countries? Share your opinion and a reference.
  • Could a change in government Like that which occurred in Germany during the Great Depression occur in the United States as a result of the Great Recession?
