The Use of ICT in the Classroom

ICT is an integral tool in the learning process. ICT have the potential to extend student learning capabilities, engaging them in understanding concepts and processes in areas of learning and facilitating change in learning, thinking and teaching. Using ICT as a tool for learning enables students to:

• efficiently and effectively access digital information to assist with investigating issues, solving problems and decision making
• produce creative solutions to support learning and develop new understandings in areas of learning
• communicate, share and work collaboratively in local and global environments
• understand the legal, ethical and health and safety implications of using ICT and their responsibilities as users and developers
• develop new thinking and learning skills to support learning.

The use of ICT in the classroom can help teachers to create effective and fun learning atmosphere. Graphics, sounds, animations and movies can be used to visualized difficult concepts. Teachers also can involve students to use ICT for creating interactive media to presented their knowledge.

The key of successfull ICT use is how teachers can integrate technologies into classroom programmes and accross the curiculum and do not treat them as "add-ons". Effective teachers identify the the right mix of instructional goal, teaching approach and resource to meet learning need of the students.

How can teachers get ICT resources to used?
A lot of sites provide free software and interactive media to be downloaded. Of course we can also buy licensed software. But sometimes the ready-used media not fit with teachers need.Teachers have to modify or combine some resources. It's mean that teachers themselves have to know about ICT. No need to be an expert, but ICT literate can help teachers to present suitable interactive media to be used in the classroom.

We can create interactive media by optimizing the function of common-used appliccation like presentation software, spread-sheet and word-processing. And there are some user-friendly software can be used to create interactive media.Teachers can easily use those software even they have no literate in programming.
