Music

It is art concerned with combining vocal or instrumental sounds for beauty of form or emotional expression, usually according to cultural standards of rhythm, melody, and harmony. Likewise music is a protean art; it lends itself easily to alliances with words, as in song, and with physical movement, as in dance. Throughout history, music has been an important adjunct to ritual and drama and has been credited with the capacity to reflect and influence human emotion. In this way, we can go back to the vague way of talking about music as the “language of the emotions,” but, since a precise semantics is wanting in music, the analogy breaks down.

With significant contributions to music theory made in the mid-20th century by several investigators who may be classified as symbolists, though most of them exhibited formalist, expressionist, and psychological elements as well. That opened the way for contextualist explanations of music in fields such as sociology and psychology. Where factors like human environment, purposes and feelings get involved to give a meaning and perception of the piece of music that is appreciated or executed.

Music Performance.

Music as an interpretive art is a relatively recent phenomenon. In ancient societies, music plays a ritual role based on an oral tradition, and each performer in a sense interprets the tradition but, more importantly, renews it and transforms it through personal performance. Which provides a rich domain for study of both cognitive and motor skills. Performers dominate many aspects of our musical culture today for this reason millions of teens define themselves through musical performance. this is reflected in concert attendance and recording sales, for example, often reflect listeners’ preferences for performers and abilities to distinguish among performances. Which result in a inconscious or conscious training process that lead to develop forms of music performance in the Western tonal tradition include sight-reading (performing unfamiliar music from notation), performing well-learned (prepared) music from memory or from notation, improvising, and playing by ear (performing music from aural presentation).
