Why are plants important?

Everyday life depends on plants. Plants are essential resources for humans and could even be considered the backbone of all life on Earth.

Plants have specific roles and functions that help in numerous ways. These ways include; food, air, climate, water, medicine, and habitat.


By the end of the lesson, students will be able to grasp these standards:

  • SC.4.L.16.1: Identify processes of sexual reproduction in flowering plants, including pollination, fertilization (seed production), seed dispersal, and germination.
  • ISTE Standard 3: Research and Information Fluency
