According to the study done by the University of Guam, childhood obesity continues to be a health concern on Guam.  Twenty-seven percent (27%) of children and forty-three percent (43%) of public school students on Guam are either "overweight" or "at risk for overweight". These numbers are parallel with current data from the Guam Department of  Public Health that show high numbers of chronic and preventable diseases such as diabetes cardiovascular disease and cancer as primary cause of deaths on Guam.  As as student of the science of nutrition and  future foodservice professional,  your task today is to equip yourself with knowledge and skills necessary to be an agent of change in our community.
