As you know, the European Union is a unique economic and political partnership between European countries, which was created to foster economic cooperation. Nowadays it consists of 27 member states, which share a single market and try to promote human rights and democracy.

The origins of the European Union go back to the end of the Second World War (1939-1945). Since then, many things have changed and new countries have joined the union.
