The Music of America!

             Imagine that you need to describe the music of America to someone in Japan? Where would you start? What are the important descriptions you would include?  Which genre was the most influential?

             It is your groups job to research some of our American music genres and present your findings to our class as well as a collaborating classroom from another country over the internet. There are many genres of music that we hear and encounter everyday that are part of our American heritage. These genres include: Soul, Country, The Blues, Funk, Zydeco, and Folk.

             You will present your findings in a presentation and pick a famous song from the genre you feel is most influential in American Culture.  The song you choose, you will also have to prepare and perform for our collaborating classroom overseas. It will be your responsibility to be a real musicologist and inform our new friends what American music sounds like.  research all of the music genres on the Process page, and decide as a group which you feel has influenced the most people and musicians of America out of all of the genres provided.
