So what did we learn here? Yes we learned about definite and indefinite integrals, and also how to solve for them using the formulas. But what about the article about relational understanding? After reading and discussing the article, we can all agree that having a relational understanding is the path to success in mathematics. Having a relational understanding of concepts helps students really know the how and the why to a concept. It's not all about just transforming these integrals into the formula and solving, it's about actually knowing what is going on. What about your own math habits? Do you tend to only work off of an instrumental understanding? Now that you are all more aware of this concept, try and think of new ways you can start to have a relational understanding of concepts.
