Competition in the Wireless Industry

It is obvious that wireless use has grown to magnitudes that would have been inconceivable just a few years ago. We see so many people who are inseparable from their smartphone, even while traveling down the highways. There are statistics that cite an increasing number of traffic incidents directly related to the use of smartphones while driving, and distracted driving. Such an attractive market would entice organizations to throw their hat int the ring, and vie for a slice of the ever increasing pie. This has however, not been the case and the top 4 or 5 carriers continue to dominate the marketplace and report record profits. This industry demands innovation, competition, and loyalty of the customer. The leading carriers have managed to remain on top of the industry by utilizing these needs and providing services that the new entrants to the market cannot match.
