The History of R&B Music

Beyonce Giselle Knowles was born in Houston, Texas, September 4,1981, to parents Matthew and Tina Knowles. Her father is African American & her mother has African, French, Native American, and Irish in her blood. Raised in Houston, Knowles enrolled in Performing arts schools and was exposed to singing and dancing as a child. She rose to fame in the late 1990's as one of the lead singer's in her group Destiny's Child, one of the best-selling girl's groups of all times. Beyonce debuted her first solo album "Dangerously in Love" in 2003 which spawned 2 number one singles and earned her 5 grammy awards. In total, she has won 17 grammys, 12 MTV music awards, and a star on Hollywood's walk of fame. She has sold over 13 million albums in the United States, and over 118 million records worldwide making her one of the best music sellers of all time. She has also created her own clothing line "House of Dereon", starred in movies such as, "Cadillac Records, Dreamgirls, The Fighting Temptations and Obsessed". created her own frangrances, and done lots of commercials for her favorite brands of items such as Pepsi, L'Oreal, Tommy Hilfinger, and more. She has done 5 world tours, and countless concerts. Beyonce married the love of her like Jay-Z Carter, who's also a well-known rapper, and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Blue Ivy Carter, January of 2012. Beyonce is by far one of my favorite R&B singers of all times & a true music phenomenon.
