Career Choice

The purpose of this web quest is to help students gain a deeper understanding of the expectations of the 21^st century employee. The research activity will provide students with knowledge about the education requirements in high school, as well as, the post-secondary requirements needed for each career. Students will use the Occupational Outlook Handbook to find a basic description, education requirements, skills needed, and any other interesting information about each career. The students will enhance their communication skills by creating a blog about their career of choice and by responding to other classmates’ blogs. The students will use problem-solving, critical-thinking, communication, collaboration, and language arts skills to create an online collaboration project that will show case a multitude of career options that inform interested audiences.

Language arts standards and objective, 21^st century skills, and the ISTE-Nets for students covered in this webquest are listed in the resource section. By completing this web quest, the students will be able to use 21^st century skills to make an informed decision about career pathways in high school.
