Introduction


This webquest is designed to allow student learn some facts of the American culture, without knowing them they might have difficulty during their first visit there. This webquest aims to teach eating habits, federal holidays and social events to prospective visitors of the country. I thought this would be of great help and guide get an insight into American culture.


 Learners


This webquest is designed for the students of English departments in Turkey who may one day want to go to the USA with Work and Travel program, a program that Turkish students can go there for the summer and come back after three months.They are assumed to speak at least upper-intermediate level English. Throughout the project, students will work together and therefore will be able to help each other and exchange ideas, and they will be having fun to see the differences and similarities between two countries.


Standards


This is an in-class activity and all the students in the class should have access to internet since all the recourses are online, and at least one person from the group should now how to prepare a powerpoint presentation.


Process


First of all teacher should introduce Mike McRoller, an imaginary character, as a friend to the class. He should say that he need their help. He may warm them up by asking how many of the students in the class want to spend their holidays in the USA, and then tell them that Mike also wants it.


While students are working on their projects, the teacher should be walking in the aisles in order to answer any questions students may ask, and he or she should also check if the students are on the right track.


Resources


Resources provided by the teacher are enough in order to answer the questions students should answer but they are free to visit any smilar pages.
