English Literature - Novel: The Railway Children

This Webquest is created for the Form 3 students as the literature component has become the essential part of the KSSR English syllabus. Selected by the Ministry of Education as the Form 3 novel for their literature component, the Railway Children Novel is not expected to teach the literature to the students, but also to appreciate it. Focused in integrating the technology and developing the students soft skills, the students will be working in groups to produce and online presentation using Prezi.com and share it to their online audiences via the Edmodo.com.

This Webquest can be used for the whole academic year, since it is provided with various links for the students to learn the major part of the novel; synopsis, plot, character, setting and moral values. Therefore, the teacher can use the notes in this Webquest as a tool to teach the students when they are in the computer lab. It is to inform also that this Webquest is prepared for the mixed-ability students, therefore the teachers are not required to group them according to the proficiency level.

Standards

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:�
(a) Obtain information from various online sources
(b)�Process information by�skimming and scanning for specific information and ideas;�extracting main ideas and supporting details;and��following sequence of ideas.
(c) Present the task to the class as well as to the online audiences.�
