·        Group organization may be contingent upon individual classroom circumstances. For instance, if students are talkative or less likely to be successful when selecting their own groups; instructors should select group members with the ultimate goal of success in mind.

·        The amount of time spent may vary depending on class size and class periods. For example, more days may need to allotted for 45 minute class periods and less for 90 minute block periods.

·        Instructors need to encourage students to be sensitive to others’ feelings and use careful discretion when addressing sensitive subjects like crime and terrorism.

·        Instructors should also encourage students to present the pros and cons of heightened security and awareness for Americans living in today’s world.

·        Remind students that they are to cite sources of information for both visual and informative components of their slideshow!

·        Encourage students to construct slides and focus on pertinent information prior to customizing slideshow (i.e.- transitions, sound effects, etc.). Students can become sidetracked quickly and get caught up in animations and lose track of time. Students do enjoy making slideshows unique, but let that serve as an incentive for them to stay focused initially, so that they have enough time to customize when they are finished with research and slides.
