Persuasive Writing and Language Skills

You will select a position from the following list:

1.  Informercial Salesman

2.  Political Candidate

3.  Non-profit humanitarian organization

You then must choose a topic to defend from your chosen standpoint. Examples: The informercial salesman is pitching the latest/greatest new device we can't live without. The political candidate is convincing the viewing audience why he/she should be elected. The non-profit humanitarian organization is raising awareness and/or soliciting funds to support their cause (i.e.,: PETA, UNICEF, ASPCA, etc.). 

Each presentation must include:

1. Statement of argument or position being supported.
2. Three arguments for your position with substantive supporting evidence to defend your position.
3. Recognition of one opposing viewpoint with substantive supporting evidence to defend your position.
4. Evidence of Ethos, Logos, and Pathos woven into your presentation.
5. A concluding statement which summarizes your argument and supporting evidence.
   
6. "Persuasive Argument" worksheet - neatly typed with works cited (bibliography) page.

1. to be typed, Time Roman, 12 pt. font.
2. to be free of grammatical and formatting errors.
3. to include a separate works cited page (bibliography), stapled to the worksheet.
4. to be submitted to your teacher on the day of your presentation.
