3rd Grade - The Three Branches of Government
Task
Imagine you want to get a job working for the people of the United States. You are going to investigate the three branches of
government that keeps our country running, and what their job responsibilities are. You can consider if you want to be President
of the United States, or maybe a Judge on the Supreme Court, or even a Senator or a Representative of your state working
in Congress.
Goal: Your goal will be to investigate and learn as much as you can about the three branches of government and decide
which job you would prefer to have if you had the opportunity to work for the people of the United States.
You will then write a speech to the people of the United States stating why you would be qualified for the job.
Or, if you are wanting to be a Judge on the Supreme Court, you would address your letter to the President of
the United States.
- First, watch the two videos about the three branches of government.
- Second, play the two games to learn about the branches of government.
- Third, look at the "research note" .pdf attachment.
- Fourth, you will need to print off the Branch Tree Project. Cut out the leaves and attach/glue them to the correct branch. Each correct leaf placement is worth 1 point.
- Take the Quiz. The quiz is worth 30 total points.
