WebQuest
Cardiac Rhythm Implantable Device Training
Task
By the time you complete the lessons in this WebQuest, you will be able to apply the concepts you've learned about pacemakers and defibrillators to device checks that you see in clinic, be thorough in your analysis of the device diagnostic data, determine whether the leads are functioning properly by safely testing them, and describe programming changes that should be made as a result of the information. However, this training course does not adequately prepare you to independently check devices. A decision about when you are ready to independently do device checks is one that should be made between you and your mentor who works with you in your clinic setting. The majority of this training is based on slides from presentations from the Core series on pacemakers and defibrillators at www.medtronicconnect.com and www.medtronicacademy.com. These two sites are invaluable resources for continued learning. They require a free registration. I recommend you complete the Core series, and visit these sites frequently for further training and continuing education contact hours.
