Create your layout of what you want your aquaponics system to look like.   Make sure that you include your tank(s), how many feet of PVC pipe you will need, your aquaponics approved PVC glue that you will use.  Only use aquaponics approved glue, not doing so will result in dead fish.  Never use any metal in the tanks, as this will be toxic to the fish, and will also result in dead fish.  Once you have your measurements of how long of pipe you need X how many rows of plant beds you have, then you can figure up the footage to cover, and decide on what gpm water pump you will need.  With the correct layout drawing and figures, you can build a small model if you like to see if it will work.  You could use a plastic barrell for the fish, never use anything metal or galvanized.  If the model that you build proves to be a workable and doable model, then you should be able to procede with the buiding process.
