Get Ready, Get Set, GO with TIA for ELL in YOUR Classroom!

1. Work in groups of three.

2. Choose one of the following roles:
a) ELL expert--keep the perspective of the English Language Proficiency Frameworks
b) TIA expert--keep the perspective of the grade level TIA ESOL document
c) Materials expert--keep the perspective of available materials (adopted and supplemental)

3. The ELL expert will review what is characteristic of each level of English Language Learner, what strategies teachers can do to reach students at that level, and what types of resources are most appropriate for their level of English Language Learner

4. The TIA expert will review the grade level TIA ESOL document and identify gaps within the document in terms of where the team needs to identify appropriate ELL strategies, assessments and materials.

5. The Materials expert will gather the adopted and supplemental materials for the assigned grade level.

6. Each member will review the list of possible accommodations for English Language Learners.  Possible accommodations are provided as one of the documents below. Each member will also review the SIOP Components recommended in Rogers Public Schools provided below as well.

7. When each member has completed the task above, they will come back together as a group.  As a group, each member will express what they have reviewed. Each team will identify at least one strategy, one assessment and one resource material for each SLE to post in the ELL resources column for each ELL level on the TIA document in googledocs.
