Welcome to module 11

During this module, surveillance, health disparities and vulnerable populations screening you will learn  essential competencies related to clinical prevention and population health promotion at the individual and population level. The learning outcomes for this module were developed to align with course outcomes utilizing the framework of the AACN’s: IX of Baccalaureate Generalist Nursing Practice. 

Module Outcomes:  

MO1: Students will recall knowledge and demonstrate comprehension through completion of learning activities. (CO1, CO3, CO4)  
MO2 Students will analyze information by participating in discussion post with peers and instructor. (CO1, CO3,CO4)
MO3: Students will engage in scholarly discussion with peers. Students will receive feedback from peers and instructor. (CO1, CO3, CO4)


Course Description:
This course is an introduction to health promotion and disease prevention across the lifespan. Students will merge theoretical and empirical knowledge into a holistic nursing approach that provides safe care to diverse populations. 

Prerequisites: Completion of lower division nursing

Course Outcomes

CO1: Students will learn to utilize critical thinking skills while applying the nursing process in community health settings. (SLPO 1), (SLPO 3)
CO2: Students will participate as members of the health care team in providing focused interventions to diverse patient populations. (SLPO 1) (SLPO 2) (SLPO 3)
CO3: Students will learn to define the determinants of health and its impact on disease prevention and premature death. (SLPO 1), (SLPO3)
CO4: Students will utilize evidence-based practices in conjunction with the nursing process to guide clinical practice. (SLPO1) (SLPO3)
