EOL: Understanding the Process

In this unit of instruction the learner(s) will utilize the learning tools provided to gain an understanding of End of Life Process, then with this understanding critical think and address how this new knowledge will affect the way in which he she as a nurse will deliver the best end of life care.

 

OUTCOMES

1. During this learning process the learner(s) should also think of how he or she perceives EOL and what it means to be terminal; how would you like your wishes to be ignore.

2. Define End of life and diferentiate it from Palliative care. Understand the scope of practice surrounding EOL: utilize EBP, and nursing scope of practice in support of EOL process.

3. Gain an insight to pain management and alternative complimentary pain management.  Look at the culture of the patient and family, how they view pain and how they want their love one's pain to be manage during the EOL process.  

4.  Self reflect on the competency and look for approve competency that will help one's skills and professional development as a competent healthcare provider of end of life care in the terminal ill patients, while gaining a world view of the politics and policies on EoL issues.
