History of Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest began on October 12, 1810 with the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig (who later became King Ludwig I) to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. The celebration following the marriage included horse races, an agricultural fair, food, beer drinking, and even performers.
