Welcome!

After writing the Constitution, the job of figuring out how to make the new government worked fell on the first five presidents of the United States.  It was up to them, working with Congress and the Supreme Court, to figure out the extent and limits of presidential power and authority.  It was not an easy task, for this was but a new, fledgling nation; it was the first of its kind, in fact.  The challenges that they faced and their response to those challenges continue to shape the United States' and her role in the world.
