You did it! You have now traveled across Texas, the second largest state. You have discovered that there are four main regions that make up the 268,820 square miles of Texas that include the North Central Plains, Coastal Plains, Great Plains, and Mountains and Basins regions. There are many different landforms, climate, vegetation, and animals that are unique to each region while at the same time some have the same characteristics. Through your completion of the four regions organizer, Venn diagram, and final project you came to the conclusion of what the best region of Texas is. Now we will wait to see what region our outer space buddies will choose to make their new home. In the meantime, you can discover even more about Texas! The bulleted items below will give you an even deeper look of Texas:

  • What are the sub regions of the main regions? How and why did they further break down the four main regions?
  • You found one city in your region. What are some other cities in your region and what are some main features of them?
  • We discovered reasons of settlement for the present. Discover settlement when the Indians settled in Texas in the past. What groups settled in your chosen best region? What groups settled in the other regions?
  • What are the symbols and icons of Texas? Click here to learn more: http://www.statesymbolsusa.org/Texas/Motto.html
