Description: Beginning in August, our 6th grade students will begin their first module in Wit & Wisdom by reading the novel Bud, Not Buddy. Bud, Not Buddy, written by Christopher Paul Curtis, is a historical fiction text based in the great economic crisis of the Great Depression and the Jazz era. The novel features main character, Bud, who is a young, African American boy searching for his father that he has never met. Following clues that were left behind from his mother, Bud is able to escape his difficult life in Flint, Michigan and land himself in Grand Rapids, Michigan in search of his father. Students will use this WebQuest to take a deeper, more in-depth look at the Great Depression.
