Welcome: Opinion Writing: Will it be a cat or a dog?
Description: This is a learning strand on opinion writing. It was designed for gifted learners in Kindergarten. Students will review the steps in writing an opinion paper. After reading two informational texts on cats and dogs as pets, they will use a graphic organizer and list the pros and cons of each animal as a pet. Then each student will decide which animal they believe is the better pet. After deciding, they will write an opinion paper using evidence from the text. The learning strand will be capped by having a debate that will be video recorded.
