Why should we vote?

Introduction/Criteria:


This lesson includes a speech and outline for 6th grade students. Students will browse given websites to gather information on voting practices, history of voting and find convincing examples on why one should vote.


Each studentwill be given 5 days to work on this WebQuest so that the outline and speech can be completed.  


Internet access is available to all student either at home or in the school library. Students without internet access wil need to be given library time to do their research.  


Students:


This WebQuest is intended for a 6th grade Social studies class.


Students will be given a dempnstration on web-site browsing and research before they begin this project.

Additional information:


     Students may work with a partner or alone. Speech can also be done with a partner as long as each student is involved and speaks at least 2-3 minutes each. Maximum of 3 partners per group.


Follow-Up:


·        Have students create an outline for their speech based on the information they collected during their WebQuest for their speech
